Igloofest 2011: Week 3 Preview

Phew! Iglookids, we've made it through two exuberant weekends of packing the Quays of the Old Port full of world-class DJ's, ice sculptures, lightshows, and snowsuits. And this coming weekend, we're getting ready for the final lap, the big kahuna, the three days that will put January 2011 in the record books once and for all.
To date to melt your snow pants, we've amassed our most excellent line-up. Thursday, we're brining in none other than the legends of Detroit. Monsieur Carl Craig and Señor Stacey Pullen will split 4 hours of Igloo-time taking you through a wall of classics. Montreal's very own Neon resident Jordan Dare gets the beats rolling.
During the same night, Igloofest, Evenko and Greenland, in collaboration with Virgin Mobile, are also presenting Robyn, up at the Metropolis. If you don't already have you ticket, you missed your chance, the show is sold out!

Friday is bass night, and we wouldn't be surprised if the Quay just fell into the water under all the decibel pressure of these heavy hitters. Montreal's favourite son, Poirier, leads a jam-packed line-up co-headlined by UK funky queen Ikonika, and backed up by up-and-comer SBTRKT and own very own man on the rise, Bowly.

Saturday is big-room club night down on the Quay. For the big finale, we've roped in Adam Beyer's go-to man, Joel Mull, to ramp up the BPMs. He'll be joined by Grade-A beef techno producers DVS1 and Kollektiv Turmstrasse. Our boys Nathan Burns & Elio Krass roll out the red carpet for your pretty feet.

Igloofest is also about hallucination-inducing videos without which the showcases would be less stimulating for the senses. Since the beginning of the festival, the VJs on hand have been doing an exceptional job. This week, we have Chocobeets, Cameron Brothers*, TIND, Gridspace and Baillat Cardell & Fils.
