Resolution Quebec 2012: Deadmau5 headliner for a night
Here comes the sort of surprise that puts the magic in the holiday season. None other than the gigantic Skrillex is joining the lineup for the Resolution 12 – Quebec City Edition event when he shares the marquis with Deadmau5 on Friday, December 30 at Centre des congrès de Québec (Quebec City Convention Centre). The term "summit meeting" is in order here, with the get-together of the two most widely hailed artists in the new generation of electronic dance music. Deadmau5's electro-techno-house and Skrillex's post-nuclear dubstep distill the purest essence of the sound that currently dominates the planet's dancefloors.
As if the pair needed any backup, Québec DJs Paris FZ & Simo T, Marco G and Uppercut will also be on hand for a party night that begins at 9:30 and winds up in the wee hours of the morning (closing time is still to be confirmed). Fortunately, Quebec City's fortifications are the model of solidity, since the heavy bass assaults of Deadmau5 and Skrillex risk putting them to a very real test. The event will be open to those 16 and over, with sales of alcohol to those 18 and over only.
The genius of Skrillex
Still relatively unknown three years ago, Sonny Moore alias Skrillex today appears as the visionary artist who succeeded in transforming dubstep into a trend in music enjoyed by a huge audience. Skrillex followed up the summer 2010 appearance of his first album, My Name Is Skrillex, with Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites the following autumn, a veritable masterwork that sent his popularity skyrocketing. Since then, the young California producer and musician has been going from strength to strength, along the way receiving no fewer than 5 nominations, including one for "Best New Artist," at the 2011 Grammy Awards in addition to remixing the Lady Gagas and Black Eyed Peas of this world. Take notice: genius on the horizon!
Don't waste time, tickets are going fast
When you're aware that Deadmau5 and Skrillex customarily play to pack houses when they perform on their own, no need to insist on the fact that getting tickets the sooner the better is the way to go for this much anticipated double bill. Tickets are currently offered at a cost of $68 (taxes and $3 police fee included + service charge) and will climb to $88, with a higher price at the door (if any tickets are left). They can be purchased on the Web at resolutionquebec.com by way of Venuedriver, by telephone at 418.656.3668 and 1-877.717.4411 until December 24, or directly from Productions Underground (418.523.1482) and at the other sales points, the complete list of which can be found on the Facebook page for the event: RESOLUTION 12 – ÉDITION QUÉBEC avec DEADMAU5.
A limited quantity of VIP tickets is also available, at a price of $40 (taxes included + service charge). Offering a number of advantages, including accelerated admission, access to a VIP lounge and a checkroom exclusively for ticket holders, the VIP is additional to the regular ticket and must be combined with that ticket for admission to the hall.
