Sensation Montreal 2009: Hit a new level of energy
Thursday, August 20th 2009
Words: Bal En Blanc
The end of the summer season in Montreal will be flying the party-time flag at the 3rd edition of Sensation Montreal, with high intensity guaranteed by the presence of the two dominant DJs on the international dance scene. A true summit meeting, the combined appearance of producers Armin Van Buuren and David Guetta heralds an exceptional night of partying on Saturday, September 5, at the Pepsi Forum. Voted number one on the most prestigious rankings over the last several years, Holland's Van Buuren enjoys an unmatched reputation planet-wide. And his French colleague David Guetta has nothing to be envious of: his recent hits "When Love Takes Over" feat. Kelly Rowland and "Sexy Bitch" feat. Akon have flirted with the top spots of pop music and international radio charts.
About 6,000 people are expected to dance the night away to the dizzying rhythms of an all-star selection whose Canadian component consists of Toronto's Glenn Morrisson and Montrealers Danny Torrence and Uppercut. A new space for Sensation, the Pepsi Forum will be laid out to offer the best of both worlds: the ambiance of a large-scale event, but in an environment with a human dimension. Powerful sound and lighting equipment, including sophisticated laser systems, will also contribute to raising the crowd to unsuspected energy levels. For its third edition, the Labor Day weekend event par excellence is pulling out all the stops for over 10 hours of uninhibited release. Sensation Montreal is a co-presentation of Playground Productions (Bal en Blanc), Produkt and BPM Festival.
From house to techno and trance: rhythms taken to the limit!
In line with the established formula of earlier editions, Sensation Montreal 09 will take wing to the rhythms of house, first off in a more "club"-like atmosphere before evolving irresistibly towards the tech pulsations more at home in an after-hours setting. Uppercut will get the night off to a sizzling start with muscular house rhythms that would take any evening to a higher level. No less a powerhouse, the seasoned Danny Torrence will take care of setting the table for David Guetta with a house as hard-hitting as it is inspired.
The Guetta effect
An international pop star and impassioned DJ both, David Guetta has sold several million discs, including the popular albums Guetta Blaster and Poplife, in addition to his renowned F*** Me I'm Famous compilations, the fifth edition of which came out in early summer. Recognized for blazing sets laced with mega-hits like "Love Don't Let Me Go," "The World Is Mine" and "Love Is Gone," the French producer will be back in Montreal just in time to release his new album, One Love, featuring among other things the worldwide hit "When Love Takes Over." No doubting he'll put his foot to the floor to dazzle us once more with a three-hour set like nobody else's.
The magic of Armin
Each of his visits is awaited with greater impatience by his thousands of fans, who quite simply revere him – and with good reason: Armin constantly renews himself and always astonishes his devotees with animated sets that have an energy all their own. While the list of successes and honors received grows longer and longer, the Dutch DJ keeps a level head and concentrates on his primary passion: creating music of the highest quality, the reason for his number-one status. After the smash hits "Going Wrong" and "In and Out of Love" served up on his last production album, Imagine, Armin was back in charge recently with A State of Trance 2009, the very latest edition of his celebrated series of compilations and one that includes the essential titles of the summer season. Never fear: Armin is bound to have a few good surprises in store for this new four-hour performance.
Till the end of the night...
To close things with a bang, Torontonian Glenn Morrisson will be on hand to demonstrate the reasons why he's become one of the figureheads on the Canadian electronic scene. With productions acclaimed by the Sashas, Tiëstos and Armins of this world, Glenn has seen his reputation rapidly cross international borders – a natural choice to wind up this edition with the sound of solid tech and progressive frequencies.
And there's more!
The party won't be close to stopping at that point. Dyed-in-the-wool clubbers are invited to carry on carrying on at Sensation Montreal's related events. First of all, the rhythms will be hot from noon to 9 p.m. at Beach Club de Pointe-Calumet with no less than Australian duo TV Rock ("Been a Long Time," "In The Air," "Release Me") as headliners, accompanied by DJ Kal, Steve Aries and the duo Erik El/Bruno Brown. A not-too-shabby party night will follow at Red Lite, where from midnight to noon the next day DJs Cesar Romero, Erik El, Bruno Brown, Steve Aries and Scott Free will be at the turntables, not to mention Shortcut in the Hip Hop room.
With your ticket, be a Sensation ...
