On Sunday, July 18, ideal conditions at the Beach Club de Pointe Calumet meant a very big crowd could fully relish the incandescent performance of Dutch star Tiësto. The first on the scene, the beautiful weather lent a hot note to the party, which was brought to a sustained peak by an inspired four-hour set courtesy of the DJ who ranks as the most popular on the planet. The compact throng of Sunday clubbers celebrated the occasion with an energy robustly fueled by waves of captivating rhythms under a sunny sky. Close to 8,000 people partied in beach mode during a torrid afternoon where light clothing and sexily swaying hips were the order of the day. And in the course of that day, DJs Kingdom, Addy, Uppercut and the duo Wizz & Insomnia also put their immense know-how to good use in revving up the intensity by several notches, playing a key role in the immense success of the summertime event.
As an inevitable result of that success, quite a number of motorists had to wait for hours on the road leading to the Beach Club but all of them, with rare exceptions, could get into the site on time and miss nothing of Tiësto's performance, which began at 2:20 p.m. Given how quickly highway matters are dealt with in Québec, it would have been difficult for the organizers to succeed in finishing the road everyone wants in time for the party! More seriously, however dense the crowd got on the site, it did not at all exceed the official capacity or that of other events already presented in that setting. Of course, waiting lines at the concessions and toilets were on the long side, but everything was handled with efficiency by the Beach Club organization, whose experience in this area is a given. Both regular and VIP customers were able to find parking for their cars, even if some of them had to do so at a good distance from the entrance.
As far as the sound levels for Tiësto's set went, Productions Playground, BPM Festival and the Beach Club agree that they might have seemed insufficient, but, once again, this was an open-air event and certain conventions had to be respected out of deference to neighborhood residents' quality of life and to municipal bylaws. Tiësto and his team have very high standards for all shows they're involved in, and the maximum was done to respect those expectations, while taking into account the conditions specific to an outdoor event.
Productions Playground, BPM Festival, Productions Tractions and the Beach Club wish to thank Tiësto, all the participating DJs, the various partners involved and the thousands of people in attendance for their contribution to the success of this unforgettable day.
